The Taste of Gotland

Gotland Brewery in Visby

We’ll start at the renowned Gotlands Brewery in Visby, which will introduce us to its fascinating history of beer, traditional brewing methods, and the variety of its distinctive beer styles. Together, we’ll sample selected beers in their atmospheric cellar pub.

The first day comes to a close with dinner and a selection of wines at the historic Klosterlängan—arguably Visby’s most atmospheric restaurant. This historic establishment, with roots dating back to the 13th century, is located right next to the impressive medieval ruins of Sankta Karin and offers the perfect setting for an enjoyable evening.

Gotland Gin Distillery

After visiting the Boge Distillery, the tour continues to the Gotland Gin Factory. Here, the consistent use of regional ingredients is the focus. Whenever possible, the ingredients come directly from Gotland. All ingredients—including the base spirit from a small producer in southern Sweden—are selected with the utmost care and to the highest quality standards. Some ingredients are grown on the distillery’s own farm, while others come from gardens across Gotland. The result is gins full of character, with an unmistakable regional flair and a truly unique variety of flavors.

Gotland Whisky

After these delightful experiences, we’ll continue on to Roma to visit Gotland Whisky. During an exciting tour of the modern distillery, you’ll learn how high-quality whisky is crafted from select ingredients and a great deal of artisanal skill. Of course, there will also be time to sample these fine spirits. Afterward, you’ll have the opportunity to discover exclusive specialties and limited-edition bottlings in the adjacent shop.

Gotland Sausage Factory in Rome

Just a few steps from Gotland Whisky, Petter Bendelin welcomes you to Gotlands Korvfabrik. Here, you can enjoy a simple lunch featuring award-winning sausage specialties. But don’t let the word “simple” fool you: Petter Bendelin has received numerous awards for his exceptional culinary craftsmanship. His certified organic products are synonymous with the highest quality, meticulous craftsmanship, and exceptional flavor.

Gute Vineri in Hablingbo

After lunch, we’ll continue on to the Gute Vineri Winery in Hablingbo. What does it take to produce a truly good wine? On a guided tour, you’ll learn what a wine-growing year on Gotland looks like—from careful winter pruning to tending the vines and the grape harvest. Afterward, we’ll tour the modern winery and distillery and get a glimpse of the technology used to produce high-quality wines and fine spirits. The tour concludes on a delightful note with a tasting of four selected wines, including an elegant sparkling wine.

Långmyre Winery in Southern Gotland

On Sunday, we’ll head to the picturesque southern part of the island to visit the Långmyre Vingård winery in Hamra. Emma Serner and Andre Guerra will provide fascinating insights into winemaking on Gotland and talk about the unique challenges and opportunities of running a winery in Northern Europe. After a walk through the vineyards, we’ll visit the winery in Burgsvik, where you’ll learn about the journey of the grapes from harvest to finished wine. Of course, the program also includes a tasting of two selected wines.

A Culinary Journey Combining Quality and Ambience

Doesn’t that already make your mouth water? And doesn’t it awaken your other senses as well? Together with Gotland’s best restaurants, farms, and artisanal producers, we’ve put together a journey that combines culinary delights, authenticity, and genuine hospitality. Look forward to unforgettable culinary experiences against the backdrop of a unique and fascinating island setting.
