Also known as St. Catherine's, a majestic ruin on the Great Square. One of the mightiest and most visited ruins with its high arches against an open sky. Sankta Karin is with its historical wings the perfect unique place for a kickoff, conference, wedding or music event.
The church was the center of Visby and was completed in 1250 with a trading place right in front, in a way like today.

Did you know that ....

Don't scratch too deeply with your toes in the ground inside St. Karin, even today you can find a little toe or a
shoulder blade, just 30 centimeters into the ground. The ground is full of untouched graves.
The Franciscan diaries tell of the hundreds of people who have been buried in the church over the
centuries. It happened that they had to break up the church floor to dismember
rotting bodies and boil away the meat to get rid of the stench.
